a list of ideas and activities for discreet witches, based on what is around to do / use in the fall

🍁 leaves 

good for cleansing negativity and making wishes. in general this is a good time to get in touch with nature, by raking leaves and gardening

🔭 stargazing

there are often stargazing functions done in the fall, at schools and such, and astronomical events happening too! ex) mars setting in front of the lagoon nebula sept. 28, uranus in opposition oct. 15

🌾 hay/straw

there’s plenty of this around in this season, and it’s good for making a besom/broom, a valuable tool for energy work and banishing bad energies

🎃 pumpkins 

there’s an abundance of pumpkins in the fall, for discreet witches that need materials!  used for, banishment, divination, healing, prosperity, and protection, you can use their materials or carve sigils into them. or spices the inside and light the candle inside for discreet spells!

☔ rain

with autumn comes hurricane season, and is an excellent time for rain witchcraft, with activities like collecting storm water, or rain divination

🔥bonfires

good for burning offerings and celebrating pagan holidays, if you wanted to organize one yourself that wouldn’t be unheard of. when it’s colder, fireplaces are a good substitute

🍫 hot chocolate

good for spells involving love, lust, health, prosperity and money, this treat is an easy way to make a pick-me-up potion

☕ coffee

the grounds are good for cleansing and banishing and growth, and by adding a pinch of herbs to it, you’ve got a daily potion on your way to work! (cinnamon is good for love, vanilla for happiness, etc)

👻 spiritual activity

in many cultures, autumn is a time where the veil between earth and spirits weakens, and spirits are more free to walk among us. try a little spirit work if you dare!

🍎 apples

apples represent the heart, are good for love spells and curses. they are also a good container for burying spells in, because they decompose, unlike glass jars.

🍊 oranges

for divination, luck, and cleansing. also good for burying things in, and you can make a candle out of them. 

🍄mushrooms

mushrooms are often indicators of a fairy ring/realm, however some witches even use them to aid with divination

🌰 chestnuts / acorns

good for love spells / fertility and protection, but also a sign of the oncoming winter. bury a handful to ensure prosperity for the next season

🍬 candy

with halloween coming up, there’s a lot of candy around. though it may not be as mystical as using herbs, your candy bin can have its own correspondences
