telltale-widower:

Harvey Recovery

Hey folks, as some of you may know I live in a small, impoverished coastal town off of Galveston Bay. Our poverty rate is 71% below the national average, to give you an idea of how bad it is. A lot of the homes here are mobile homes (rv’s, trailers) and most are old wooden houses built in the 1950’s. The tiny neighborhood i live in unfortunately received a nasty amount of rain over the week; rising floodwaters anywhere from 6 inches to 3.5 feet. My house luckily received around 6 inches rather than the latter, but it being a one story means that everything inside has to be gutted. Including everything we own. We are hoping for some FEMA assistance but will most likely need more help. My mom works for a nonprofit that pays the minimum of what’s considered a livable wage, and she is the only one working in a 3 human 4 animal household, so we aren’t sure how we are going to be able to manage this.

My little brother set up a GoFundMe aimed to help us get back on our feet. All donations will go towards feeding us, transportation, and other necessities that are vital to keeping us safe. Depending on the damage we received, we may need the donations to relocate to a different state.

If you’re able and willing to help us you can find the page at gf.me/u/cimwav

If money isn’t something you can afford to lose, please consider sharing this so others can see it. Thank you all so much.
