Also if you’re evacuating and want to know if the food in your fridge/freezer is okay when you come back freeze a cup of water then before you leave put a coin on top of the frozen water, if you come back and the quarter has sunk in the ice it means your power went off, your food unfroze, then refroze, which I’m sure we all know it’s like unsafe to defrost food then refreeze.
