What I really wish people would understand about cursing and hexing, it’s not always about revenge. It’s not always about getting back at someone who hurt you or someone else. Sometimes it’s the only way to express how godsdamned word-spitting incomprehensibly fucking ANGRY you are with the evil choices someone has chosen to lead. And you can’t smack them because assault is illegal, and even if you could smack them, you’re so mad that there’s no guarantee you’d be able to stop hitting once you started.

You could scream at them. You could shout and cry and choke on the rage as you spit words at them.

“Do you not see how your actions and choices are hurting others?!”

“Do you care at all about yourself or other people??!”

“Because you were hurt, you think that gives you the right to hurt others?!? If anything it gives you more incentive to NOT HURT OTHERS BECASUE YOU SUPPOSEDLY KNOW HOW IT FEELS. WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU PERPETUATE THAT?!?”

If you can even get the words out without choking or stumbling or losing coherency, they most likely will not be heard. People who drive one to that level of anger and hurt rarely care that they hurt you. They’ve already tuned you out and are either ignoring you or throwing a punch back.

But I can scream at a candle.

I can pour all my anger and rage and grief and anguish into a clay vessel and smash it.

I can sew a poppet from their clothes and stuff it with baneful herbs to cause physical ailments that will hinder their abilities to speak or stand or be useful to a hate group.

I can write their names on paper with list of their crimes and burn it, scattering the ashes at a crossroads so they will leave and not come back.

I can make their luck turn so that everything they try to do that has the intention of harming another will only harm themselves instead.

I can crank up the volume on their inner Jiminy Cricket so they know goddamn well what they’re doing is wrong and see if they still make the free will choice to keep doing the bad things.

If you could stop a person from doing evil, wouldn’t you? I don’t know if I can stop it entirely, but I can make them severely regret going down that path.
