An idea that popped into my head.

The text reads:

Untold ages ago, the witches
Gathered, and sang to the stars
And untold lightyears away
Through the hum of the universe
The first witch raises her head
And listens

The initial idea was to have that be how witches are made in the first place, they listen to other witches, no matter how far away or how strange and alien they are.
In this format, it could also be interpreted that the first one to sing to the stars is still listening.
