Working Through Shit (with Magic)

crowsonglodge:

So,  I was speaking to a client last night and I shared with her this technique and I thought I’d go ahead and share it here with y’all, too.

WORKING THROUGH SHIT

So, one way I like to work through stuff that I’m upset about, for whatever reason, and to help myself let it go and get it out (as Shrek taught me, “better out than in”), is I sit down with pen (not pencil – if I make a mistake, I have to cross it out, there’s NO takesy-backsies) and paper and I write it out. EVERYTHING. Every thought, feeling, associated memory. I write it all down until there is nothing left. Even if I’m repeating myself. I keep writing until I have nothing left to say about the topic. All my worries, hopes, fears, irrational ideas, anxieties: everything.  Use ALL the paper that you need. Just go for it.

Then I take this paper outside and pay VERY CAREFUL ATTENTION to fire safety, usually using a glass or metal mixing bowl, add some sage and/or rosemary, and perhaps say some prayers to whatever gods or goddesses, spirits, ancestors, WHATEVER might be appropriate, and burn them. If it goes out prematurely, I relight the papers until only ash is left. And then I take the ashes away from my house – off my property – and dispose of them into a direct lot, a dumpster, or into the ocean, whatever is available. Off it goes!

TO DRAW SOMETHING GOOD

I do the same kind of thing, except at the end, I will use dragon’s blood resin, rosemary, or bay leaves when burning the papers, and when it comes to disposal, I will bury the ashes on my property (or in a garden pot in my home or patio if it’s more appropriate) in order to draw it towards me.

TO TALK TO THE DEAD

At Samhain or on birthdays, I will sometimes write letters to my deceased loved ones or ancestors to connect with them again in whatever way I want to – for comfort, to update them, or to wish them well and tell them I miss them – and will again scatter these ashes to the four winds.

REMEMBER!!!!!

Safe Travels- A Magical Powder

themixedwitch:

  • 3 parts mugwort
  • 2 parts sea salt
  • 2 parts dirt from your home/ a place you feel safe
  • 2 parts sage
  • 1 part lavender

Sprinkle on your means of transportation– be it your bike, your car, your feet… Be wise if traveling by plane or somewhere where you have to go through security. Strange powders in your shoes would definitely raise some eyebrows.

This also doubles as a powder to reduce travel anxiety.
