Hello! I am half white ( mom ) and half black ( dad ). I was just wondering how I could incorporate both into my practice? I don’t want to appropriate anything but I also want to pull from my both of my roots.

You could pull aspects from both cultures, and combine them. If you’re black and of slave descent, and you claim your heritage, than you can look towards African Diasporic practices. But I would recommend just taking techniques from them and not practicing them 100%, as it wouldn’t be mixing your heritage.

Not many white practices are closed to people, so whatever your mothers roots are, I recommend researching them and incorporating them into your craft. Just find a balance.

You’d be considered eclectic if you’re looking into the craft. That’s kidna what I do. I’m not mixed in the sense that you are, but I have both African and European heritage, so I try to combine them both.

I mean… you can practice an African diasporic tradition fully 100% but also still engage with Eurocentric traditions and practices too, even completely 100%.

There’s no reason you’d have to hold off at all from either in order to connect with each part of your heritage and practice traditions related to both sides. You can fully practice both or a partial blend of each. Personally, I don’t think it’s a give and take scenario, but ultimately do whatever works for you, anon ❤

Just also make sure when you’re studying different religions, traditions, etc. from each culture to treat them respectfully and double check what’s okay to practice in bits and pieces vs. which practices need to be kept in their original, holistic contexts.

🔢 Number Correspondences 🔢

sigil-seer:

I incorporate numbers into my spells very often- from how many pieces of a stone I put in a spell bottle, to how many times I make a certain gesture. Numbers can be very symbolic and important! So, here’s a list I’ve compiled from experience and research. These correspondences can be interpreted for divination and spellwork.

0

Emptiness, spiritual essence, potential, fluidity.

1

Unity, positivity, strong will, new beginnings, and pure energy.

2

Duality, partnerships (romantic or rivalrous), love, balance, and choice.

3

Magic, intuition, versatility, expression, and creativity.

4

Solidity, persistence, grounded nature, calmness, and home.

5

Travel, primitive energy, sudden change, and adventure.

6

Harmony, balance, sincerity, love, and truth.

7

Manifestation, scholarly activities, mystery, and the focused search for esoteric meanings.

8

Business, continuation, success, repetition, wealth, and cycles.

9

Attainment, satisfaction, accomplishment, intellectual power, inventiveness, and influence over situations and things.

And that’s all! For larger numbers, just add up the digits until it’s a single digit number, then refer to that for the number’s meaning. (e.g. 53 is the same as 8 because 5+3=8) I hope this was helpful!

Ward Fillers

chaosjelly:

A Ward Filler is what you put on the inside of the ward, in your actual space. This is so that even if an intruder or harmful energy manages to get past your wards, the inner space is still unsafe for them. Anything that you could visualize or imagine protectively clouding or filling up your space could be used as one.

You want your Ward Filler to have at least these properties:

  • Anti-Teleport: So those that are not invited in can’t just teleport past your wards.
  • Terrain Damage: So that the area is still unsafe for intruders.
  • Malleable Cloud of Protection: So that it could concentrate itself around you when an intruder happens.

A few potential examples:

  • Toxic gas: Made from the clouds of burning incense filling your space, imagine the incense smoke being poisonous to any and all intruders.
  • Candle: Imagine the fiery energy from the energy filling up the space, burning anything that tries to enter. Additionally, you could imagine the light could fill up the space and be damaging as well.
  • Light: Imagine the light from a certain lamp filling the space and frying any intruders that enter.
  • Protective Mist: As you spray the water around the room, imagine the water energy lingering in the air and automatically filling the lungs of any intruders, drowning them unless they leave immediately.

I hope this was helpful to you all!

So I have possibly received a message from The Horned God (or one of his many facets), but further pressing says that it’s not the right time for me to speak to this deity, so I have no real way of verifying yet. I’ve been researching him for the last two – three hours or so, and I’ve found that I don’t like the Wiccan interpretation, nor do I like the idea that he dies and is reborn?? Probably because I don’t understand it well. I haven’t had luck finding any other interpretations besides as Cernunnos or Pan, but I don’t vibe with either interpretation, yet I cannot stop researching The Horned God. This wouldn’t mean anything but interest usually, except the inability to stop researching a deity was the exact same problem I had with Artemis, before I started worshipping her… I’m really interested in The Horned God, but I can’t get behind the lore (that I can find), but I’m really interested in The Horned God… I’m in a rut here, folks.

Thank you to all the people who commented on this post with information/anecdotes of their own gods. After careful research, deliberation, and divination, I think I’ve found who’s contacted me, and I’m happy with where I’m at right now in terms of all that. Good luck on all your journeys!

dear universe;

hello. i am writing to let you know you did good job on the stars, and also on cats.

yours respectfully,
me

dear universe,

in the original post of this, it says “dogs” where it now says “cats”. i do not know when (or how) it got changed, but i am glad that someone loved cats enough to do that, because i love my dog and i also love my cats and i felt bad about not mentioning it that first time. i’m also glad for all the tags where people told me what i should have added (like libraries and waffles and maple syrup) and i am glad for all the comments about how much they love their pets (and some people have such cool pets!)

i kind of think, universe, if we are your children, this is our macaroni art. see, see, see, you gave us a little bit of the stars, and we’ve made our own constellations. we tried to give back to you by making art and music and books and bad poetry and our laughter and our love and our tv dramadies. we took pictures of the night sky and pictures of sunsets and pictures of dew, we fell in love with space and the rivers and the rain. i personally have my desktop background as a picture of one of your nebulas. your hair looked great that day.

i think…. you did a good job, universe, on the stars, and what the stars became, because you put us together and yes, yes, things might be terrible – but good gracious did we make so many things worth loving, worth writing to you about, worth telling you – thank you, i’m taking the spark you put in me and using it to be kind, to be alive, to be wildly fierce about our gardens and gentle about our pets.

so hello. i amend my previous memo. i am writing to let you know you did a good job on the stars, and on my dog and my cats and the lizard i kept illegally in my apartment. and universe, i hope you’re watching, because some of the people you made? they’re great, universe, and they’re full of love, just endlessly capable of loving. and they give me hope.

and through them, universe, that’s you. that’s how the stars sing.

yours respectfully,
me

This is the most beautiful thing

I don’t want to disappear without a forewarning.

As of July 4th 2018, the Internet as we know it might be dead for good.

The European Parliament is passing a new Copyright Directive.
Article 13 #CensorshipMachine will impose widespread censorship of all the content we share online. Art, fanfiction, parodies, remixes, mashups, memes, etc.. Anything that you do not hold the rights over will be taken down.

Article 13 would force all online platforms to police and prevent the uploading of copyrighted content, or make people seek the correct licenses to post that content. Internet platforms hosting large amounts of user-uploaded content must monitor user behaviour and filter their contributions to identify and prevent copyright infringement.

Such filters will be mandatory for platforms including YouTube, Facebook, Tumblr, Reddit and Instagram, but also much smaller websites.

This doesn’t just affect Europe. The content creators you love are going to be in hot water for sharing their art and writing with you online. Any and all content that doesn’t belong to us will be filtered. Even memes are at risk, as the person who took the original photo may want to file complaints against any platform that allows it to be used without permission. But it goes even further than that.

Last Tuesday (19th June 2018) a group of more than 70 people who have played important roles in building the internet and developing it (Tim Berners-Lee, Vincent Cerf,

Jimmy Wales, Mitchell Baker…) into what it is today addressed an open letter to the members of the European Parliament:

“As creators ourselves, we share the concern that there should be a fair distribution of revenues from the online use of copyright works, that benefits creators, publishers, and platforms alike.

But Article 13 is not the right way to achieve this. By requiring Internet platforms to perform automatic filtering all of the content that their users upload, Article 13 takes an unprecedented step towards the transformation of the Internet from an open platform for sharing and innovation, into a tool for the automated surveillance and control of its users. […] The damage that this may do to the free and open Internet as we know it is hard to predict, but in our opinions could be substantial.”

Here is the original Article 13. It’s even scarier. / Link 2

Europe is facing a huge problem, and unlike with Net Neutrality, the world doesn’t seem to care.
