How to Read Energy and What to Expect

thymewitch:

As many of you know, one service I offer on this blog are energy readings. I have gotten a lot of inquiries on how I do these readings, so I would like to inform you on my methods as well give you tips on how to do them yourself. Please note that I am not an expert nor do I have the final say on how to do energy readings properly, this is just my experience.

Understanding Energy
The way I understand energy is as the force that inhabits everything at one point or another. Everything has an energy signature, down to the smallest grain of sand. However, the energy of living things is a bit different. There have been many names given to this energy but it is most often known as one’s life force. The hardest part of an energy reading is picking up on one’s particular energy among the trillions of energy sources swirling around at any given moment, but I will tell you how I do this.

How to Read Someone’s Energy

My method for reading energy is going to be different from everyone else’s. Your method for reading energy will be different from everyone else’s. Everyone has their own techniques for reading energy, but here are a few of mine.

  1. Sit in a comfortable location with at least part of you pressed firmly against the ground.
  2. If you are reading for someone irl, have them sit near you. Physical contact often helps if both of you are comfortable with that.
  3. If you are reading for someone not physically present, it can help to have a piece of them “sit” in front of you. I ask for names and blog urls when I do my readings so that I have an energy signature to focus on but you really can use anything or nothing at all, whatever helps you get a lock on the other person’s energy.
  4. Sit in front of the person or blog and close your eyes. A bit of meditation before you try to tap into their energy is a good idea.
  5. Feel the energy of the earth under you and feel out this individual’s energy as it appears, a piece of the earth just like you.
  6. Grab onto this energy. Snatch it from the earth just briefly. Images, smells, tastes, sounds, colors, and feelings should come to you as you feel their energy. Keep a mental note of what you experience and write it down once you return.
  7. What you have experienced while feeling someone’s energy is their energy reading. It may be a bit of a jumbled mess, but that’s okay. Everyone’s energy is different but there may also be some overlap, which is also okay.

You can give someone their energy reading in many forms. I give mine as a paragraph with everything I saw, yours may be only a line or two. Everyone experiences different things when reading energy and having shorter readings isn’t a bad thing. You may even pick up on more or less energy from each individual. Its totally okay if some readings are long and others very short.

So…. What if your energy reading doesn’t resonate with me, like, at all?

There could be a great number of reasons your reading went screwy. As I said before, energy can neither be created nor destroyed, it simply changes shape. This being said, it could be a number of factors.

  1. I am picking up not on your energy, but the energy of someone very close to you. If you have been in contact with them recently, pieces of your energy sometimes clings to them.
  2. It could also be that I am reading into the energy of one of your past lives, something you won’t necessarily resonate with or remember.
  3. It could also be that the reading was accurate but maybe some part of it was hard to hear, or some repressed memory. This is not the fault of the reader, in the long run it is up to the client to interpret the reading.
  4. It could also be external factors in my own life clouding my ability to pick up on your energy. My cat knocks over a vase in another room and not thinking I write that in as your energy because I was so lost in the moment.
  5. It could also be you’re my last in a long line of energy readings and I am exhausted and hurriedly trying to get through your reading without paying attention to detail.
  6. It could be any number of things, all acting upon one another. Keep an open mind.

Whatever the reason for your energy reading not being accurate, it is best to just be polite and move on. No good will come of harassing a reader, especially if they are offering a free service.

I just did an energy reading and I’m exhausted!

Yup, that’s a real thing and totally normal. Energy readings can be draining, especially for beginners, as you expend some of your energy when you tap into the earth and go out in search of other energies. This is especially draining at first if you have not yet learned how to shield your energy when searching in the energy field and subsequently some of it may be leeched out. Here are some self care tips to help you regenerate faster.

  1. Time yourself. I like to light a stick of incense before I start my readings. Once it is completely burned out, I stop no matter what I’m doing and go drink some water and just do something I enjoy for 30 minutes or so before returning to readings.
  2. Eat or drink something sugary or high in carbohydrates while you read to return energy lost. I like to munch on sweet cherries while I read.
  3. Learn to shield yourself from energy drain. I imagine my energy dressed in a suit of impenetrable armor before I search out someone’s energy. Your shield can come in any manor of form, find one that feels right to you and keeps the pesky energy leech out.
  4. Take little breaks in between readings, even just a minute or two to catch your breath.
  5. Use crystals to return your energy. I like to take some moon-charged amethyst and hold it in my palm during breaks, feeling its energy flow into me.
  6. Practice self care. Shower, change your clothes, put on some lotion or makeup… Anything like that will help replenish energy.
  7. Take a nap! I have a bad habit of doing energy readings as soon as I wake up and then I’m dead for the rest of the day. Napping helps immensely.
  8. Know your limits. You probably won’t be able to do 20 energy readings your first day. Pacing is so important.
  9. If you are doing energy readings online, be prepared to use the block button. Some people are going to be rude, but that is their problem not yours.
  10. Have fun! If energy readings become stressful take a break. If someone is waiting on you for their energy reading, they will understand if it comes a little late. If not, fuck ‘em. You don’t owe anything to people who don’t care about your well being as a reader.

There are a great many things you can do to recharge after an energy reading, but these are just a few of my favorites. Everyone is different, and respecting that is key.

Remember actually enjoying yourself is key. Good luck with your energy readings!

Healing 101: Different Types of Healing

silkensorcerer:

Physical Healing: Physical ailments create disruptions that affect the energetic body. Having a big wound, for example, would be able to be seen in the energy system and would often times make for complications in the energetic body. This type of healing is most often only effective when it’s paired with help from mundane means and it does not replace it in any way. It can aid in the healing but doesn’t work on its own.

Energy Healing: “Energy Healing” is a broad term that included but is not limited to healing blockages, injuries on the energetic body or energy system, regulating a healthy energy flow, bringing the energies in the body back into balance, and much more. Basically, everything that works on the energy system and usually the other more “physical” layers of your energetic body.

Emotional Healing: Emotional Healing is exactly what it sounds like: The healing of emotions. This type of healing is usually very soft and gentle. Most often it either softens the bad feelings or gives the person that is being healed new, more positive ones that overshadow, eliminate, or nullify the bad ones. For deeper sitting wounds continues work is required.

Soul Healing: These are the types of healings that transcend the pain of one life and focus on healing the soul, or core, of a person. Past life traumas and pain come up and are treated with these healings. They go way deeper into the energy of a person than other types and thus make the one being healed more vulnerable.

Mind Healing: Mind healings focus on treating the mind. This type can aid in the treatment of unhealthy thought patterns and the like, although not replace mundane treatments. Mind healings are often paired with emotional healing.

Metaphysical/Energetic Healing should NEVER replace a doctor, medication, or other type of mundane treatment. If you have a physical or mental illness, see a professional.

Cutting energy cords

crystalsandspellbottles:

Energy cords are things that tie us to other people, spirits, and things in our life. They form for many reason and in different ways, but this post is about removing them so you can remove unwanted people from your life. Cords can be removed in a bunch of different ways. Just removing someone from your life weakens or removes some cords, but this post is about speeding up the removal process through energy work. (this is all from my experience with energy work and cord cutting, you might see or experience the process differently.) -Mod J

  1. First thing you need to do is identify the person you are cutting ties with, and all the ties you might have to them. For example, I had a EX who left my life years ago and i did a cord cutting for our relationship, but i didn’t notice at the time that there were more cords connect me to them because they were more then just a person i dated. They meant a lot to me in different ways like how they were the only person i could talk to about certain things and we had built different aspects to our relationship outside of romantic ties that i ignored because on an unconscious level i didn’t want to give up that significance they had to me. This can take time to really figure out all the different roles a single person could have played in your life so don’t rush the process.
  2. Once you know the different aspects to your relationship to this individual it’s time to go to work and start finding and removing them. I begin by doing the basic like grounding and centering myself and then start meditating until i reach a trance-like state.
  3. Once in a deep meditative state you need to go out of body or visualize this person standing across from you. If you go out of body “find” the person you’re looking for and get a real feel for there energy at this moment. If you are visualizing them standing across from you pick an environment around you that makes you feel comfortable and in control and visualize that place. You need to really be able to create the feel of that person in your mind. This can be done by bringing up memories and/or by using things that belonged to them that you still have. It need’s to be an honest portrayal of that person, including the good and the bad.
  4. Once you can feel and see that person in front of you start locating and/or visualizing these cords. You might notice there are more then one cord for each connection to this person you are cutting, this just means the bond between you and them was built up over time.
  5. now the removal process begins. depending on the cord you are removing it might be better to cut them, or relocate them to other people in your life so you don’t leave an energy hole to be filled. When removing a cord you need to cut BOTH ENDS. This is very important. If you only cut your end or their end it will leave the cord just hanging there for someone or something else to latch onto to or it can just reattach to the person you just removed it from. You can remove these cord by pulling them out of your body and their body with your bare hands. This can be good when you have some pent up aggression for this person to really feel it being removed your you and their chest with your own (energy) hands. You can imagine/use anyway you want to remove or cut them, just make sure you do it from both sides of the cord and then obliterate it. I like to make them dissolve.
  6. If you are relocating a cord from one person to another start the process again from the beginning with this new person, but you wont need to figure out all the aspect of your relationship to this person. take some time to really consider things before you implant one cord into another person. Just because you feel a certain way about someone doesn’t mean that want that same type of bond. It’s always a good thing to ask the other person before doing this. If you have a thought cord like this strong sense of love or trust that cutting will only cause a lot more pain reattach the cord to someone who you ALREADY have a similar connection to. Take the end out from the person you are removing this connection too and implant it into this other person. Watch it take root inside them and feel it change inside you to fit this new person.
  7. The most important thing you need to do now to end this processes is to do some healing on yourself, and hopefully the other person too. Even tho you might not like them, leaving someone energy holes that didn’t occur on their own before you messed with things isn’t cool. So fill these tiny hole with healing energy of some kind. use any method you want. It might also be good to have someone you trust do some healing for you and them too, to really fill in some of the energy damages that might have occurred.
  8. Come out of your meditation and return to normal activities. it might be good to take it slow and do some more grounding and centering because you might have just altered some important connections you relayed on more heavily then you through. take it slow for a day or too and practice some self care because cutting cords can be some heavy emotional stuff.

Servitors

rad-magick:

Many people often are very confused on how to start working with spirits; I always recommend a servitor to start spirit work.  So, this post will hopefully explain what a servitor is and how to make one.  This post is largely made from my experiences with servitors since the process of creating and using servitors is very fluid and there is no set way to create and use them.

Now what is a servitor?

A servitor is a type of thoughtform.  A thoughtform itself is an umbrella term, for the purpose of this lecture I will define a thoughtform as any man-made spirit.  The definition is more complex than that but this lecture isn’t on thoughtforms it is on servitors.

Now a servitor is an functioning creation of the practitioner meant to carry out a task or serve a purpose, because of this, knowing how to create a servitor is a very useful skill to have since they can be made for a variety of purposes, say to attract money, bring luck, protection from this or that.  If you have the skill, the sky’s the limit.  Now what sets servitor from other types of thoughtforms?

A servitor is often seen akin to an egregore.  An egregore is also a type of thoughform.  Many people debate what makes a servitor different from an egregore, but the general consensus is that a servitor is much more simple in design and not self aware; while an egregore is both self-aware and more complex in function and design then when compared to a servitor.  An egregore can also be made by multiple people, it does not have to be, but it can be.

There are also thoughtforms called “God-heads”.  These God-heads are defined as thoughtforms created by multiple people; usually a coven or a group, and viewed as a “God”.  They are also seen as more powerful than both servitors and egregores, and a lot more complex.  Many chaos magician see all deities as god-heads/thoughtforms.

“It is not unknown for powerful entities to survive the death of their creator. The more people that “create” such an entity also enhances its survival and capacity to store information. In these terms, it is easy to see how a small spirit may give time and the energy input (directed through ritual and other techniques for directing energy) by enough people, could become what we commonly assume to be “gods.”” (Phil Hine aspects of evocation)

Now let’s get into the nitty gritty, shall we?
A Servitor is an astral entity that is consciously created by the power/authority of the practitioner through the use of trance states, evocation (conjuration), and will.

As I said before, servitors are very useful because they can be created to perform a wide range of tasks or functions on the creator’s’ behalf.  The creator’s intent, if you will.  This makes them very useful, because once you learn to make servitors you will always have that skill, and you can always experiment with other ways to create servitors and other purposes to create them for.

Servitors are very varied, both in use, and in lifespan, they can be made for a specific event, say “Bring me 20 quid” and then cease to exist, or can be long term servitors that will always help you out with whatever you created them for; to aid you in divination, protection etc etc.
Servitors are created by you, they are an extension of yourself, some describe them as an automated part of you because of this.  So when they stop existing they don’t really “die”, since they are an extension of you.  When they “die” their energy returns to you.

Where to house servitors.
Servitors are a type of spirit, they exist not on this physical plane of existence.  They exist on the astral plane or whatever you wish to call it.  Since this is the case, something is assigned to house the servitor on this plane of existence, this is done to better your contention to them.  This something is better described as a vessel.  I usually make a servitor’s vessel a ring so I will always have them on me, the contract for the servitor could be a vessel,  or a poppet that looks like the servitor is another idea.

How do I create a servitor?  The contract

When creating a servitor you always start with the intention, why are you creating this servitor?  So for this example I will create “Little Johnny” for protection.  Now that I have the name and intention of the servitor you can move onto more complex subjects, like how will Little Johnny recognize threats?, will he be self-aware?, will he just attack anything that tries to attack you?, etc etc.  These details are important and you will write them all down in a contract.

The contract is, in my experience, the most annoying part of creating the servitor, because of the fact that you need to write everything down and brainstorm what they can and cannot do, this is essentially the servitors “programming”.

This contract should have everything you think what your servitor should be, what they can do, what do they look like, how long they should exist, (most importantly) a kill switch/ how to get rid of them, what is their vessel, how will you feed them, how can activate and call them to you etc etc.

When you have the contract finish I always find it best to create a seal for the servitor, this seal can be made like you would a sigil, crossing out vowels and repeating constants and making a symbol with the remaining letters, or anything that comes to mind that acts a representation for this servitor.  For this protection servitor example I would use a shield with a knight chess piece on it, because it seems fitting.

The last thing you should also include how to summon the servitor, and the kill switch should anything happen with the servitor, it is a good safety net to have.  This can be done in whatever way you choose I like saying the servitor’s name three times as the activation sequence to bring the servitor to you, then to destroy the servitor I like to say the name three times backwards and then burn the contract for the servitor.  But, again the servitor creation process is very fluid and changes person to person.

Servitor upkeep

When you create a servitor will be drained of energy because it takes energy to create them, but. over time, you will need to feed them just like you would anything else.  If they have a seal you can carve it on a candle and then burn the candle, meditate with them, give them some sort of battery to siphon energy out of (link here), you can make a psi ball and then push that into their contract or vessel (link here)
It is important to regularly feed a servitor, otherwise they will starve and cease to exist or worse.

Now lastly we are going to get into the actual servitor creation.

So now that you have a contract, a seal, and all the things that make the servitor, it is time to actually make the servitor.  So, with anything, there are many ways to create servitors, through ritual, evocation, or trance.  For this I will be explaining how to create one via trance and meditation.

Now first, do a cleansing of your space, ground and center yourself, you could burn some herbs do some meditation beforehand, the LBRP or star ruby, it is up to you.  Do whatever you usually do to get into the mindset you need to do this working.

So for this, sit in a chair, get comfortable because you are going to be there for awhile.  If you do not have a desk in front you, you can sit on the floor, you just need a place where you can put stuff down in front of you and focus.  If you can; you should get a candle or two and carve the servitor’s seal into them, this will also be very good for when you are feeding the servitor later on.  If you can’t get them, no big deal. You could also burn some incense, get some crystals, shift it into whatever you want.

So to start, read through the contract a few times, memorize it, get the feel of what you are about to create.  When ready place it in front of you on the ground or on your altar, then place the vessel on top of the contract.  Tilt your head back, and count backwards from 12 to 0, this will help collect yourself, when you are ready begin to visualize energy gathering around the vessel.  This will take several minutes, when more energy is visualized picture the energy (whatever colour you choose) to start to mold into the appearance of your servitor.  Continue this until you are sure your servitor is stable, when you are sure, you want to picture your servitor opening its eyes and staring into yours.  When you do that, pick up the contract, and the vessel.  Hold the vessel up to your head and take in a deep breath, then exhale your breath onto the servitor, you are essentially breathing life into them, do this three times in total.  When that is done pick up your contract and read it out loud, then command your servitor to do its first task.

Some issues with servitors

With a more generalized Servitor, anyone who knows its activation sequence (such as a chant, name, seal, or visualization sequence) can employ it to work at a given task.  Which means whoever does know whatever activates said servitor can use and perhaps mess with it.  So, do not go around sharing how to use your servitor(s).

Planets going into and out of retrograde, as well as astrological events,  can cause problems with servitors; this can be best shown if a servitor was created for communication and Mercury then goes into retrograde.

Many people especially when they first get into working with servitors quickly becoming overwhelmed by them and make too many servitors, and cannot feed all of them or care for them all at once.  I recommend making a very general one and then get more specific.

Some people become too dependent on servitors for simple magickal acts and therefore cannot function without that servitor, and then when that crutch is eventually gone, they cannot stand without them.
