Creating a book of the dead.

necromancyandme:

Find a member of your family whom is seen as “wise” and who knows much of your family tree. It is a good idea to buy a note book and use it only for the names (and characteristics) of the dead.
It is also wise to get both sides of the family, so you may maximize the amount of spirits at your disposal.

If you are “in the closet” about necromancy you can rest assured that all you are doing is collecting names and dates as well as taking notes of what they were like in life. Nothing wrong with that.
You’ll need to mark down their birthdate, date and (if possible) time of death. Ask about stories and take notes on their personality. Ask for photographs of them and ask about their favorite food and drink.
Once you’ve written down all that you can, its time to divide them.
First make two lists,
One female and one male.
Next divide those lists into:
greater (spirits you know the most about) and lesser (spirits you know very little about).
Those lists will themselves be scaling from greater to lesser. The less you know of a spirit the less capable you will be to summon them. Knowing the favorites of the deceased will allow you to create more appealing altars and give your give better offerings during a ritual and knowing the personalities helps you choose what spirit you’d want to work and what to expect.

You should now have four lists, and a notebook full of names and knowledge of the dead. By doing this you have taken the first step into summoning a spirit.

Ghoul’s Teeth

the-house-of-shadows-gn:

Ghouls are are pine cones which are marinated in a bowl of red wine for a day, and then rolled in graveyard dirt. The wine should contain a biological taglock from a enemy. They are used in a special form of green necromancy. You bury them on the property of someone you hate and when a drop of blood hits the ground they are activated. The ghoul’s teeth begin eating up the energy and fertility of everything on the property and transferring it to the parent tree. The green necromancer then having a relationship with the tree can share the plundered energy with the plant. This curse will also siphon off any magic that your foe possesses.

Forgotten Dead Funeral

tarnished-headstone:

Hey everyone. So I did this thing a long time ago as a part of my Haides and Persephone worship that I think could be a really cool way to work with the forgotten dead. You can alter this in any way to fit how you would go about giving a spirit a proper funeral. For me, this is to honour any human spirits living in or around my home. On to the how to!

First, you’ll need a poppet. I used a mini skeleton. You could do something as simple as tie two sticks together in the vague shape of a person. Whatever works for you.

Then, you’ll need a miniature coffin. Michael’s sells these painted or unpainted, and they open and close with a latch. I love using them because it feels proper in a sense. Or, you could use a box.

This next part is optional. Take flowers, herbs, perfumes, and little gifts and put them in the box with the poppet. Call to the spirit you are honouring, and let them know that you have not forgotten them. I do not suggest burying the box because most of the time it won’t deteriorate and that’s bad for the environment. Instead, bury it in a pot of soil.

You can make a grave marker for the spirit. If you wish to contact them, merely go up to the pot of soil and offer something like flowers, and call upon them.

With permission, you can use the dirt as a form of graveyard dirt. A spirit resides there, so I don’t see why it couldn’t be used similarly.

Talisman to dream of the dead:

necromancyandme:

For those whom lack the ability to contact the dead in the waking world, I present to you this talisman.

What you will need:
+ A sewing needle
+ Black thread
+ Scissors
+ Grave dirt, refined (preferably from the grave of your target, however any will suffice)
+ Lavender
+ Mortar and pestle
+ Bone dust
+ Sandalwood oil
+ Purple fabric
+ Chalk
+ Two black taper candles
+ A taglock of the spirit you wish to speak with (picture, personal belonging, sigil)

1. Grind the bone dust, Lavender and grave dirt together in the mortar until it creates a fine dust.
The mix should be as follows:
2 Parts Bone dust
2 Parts Grave dirt
2 Parts Lavender.
Place the mix into the bowl and store in a dark and dry place.
2. Cut a rectangle of the purple fabric and fold it in half by it’s length. Sew up two sides and leave one open, creating a pouch.
3. Anoint the candles with sandalwood oil, starting from the tip and twisting down towards you.
4. Place your bowl of dust on your altar and draw a circle with chalk around it. On the east and west sides of the circle, place your two candles.
5. When the moon is high, light the two candles and announce:

“Yihmoht amok ohtsteh-reps irysp-sneeht dnahmok hno-beh-dnah htrah-ch Ih-byihmoht”

6. Leave it over-night for the candles to burn out. Take the stumps of wax and grind them up in the mortar, add them to the dust and stir well.
7. Place the taglock into the bag and fill the bag with the dust. Sew it up well.
8. Before bed, take the bag and whisper gently:

“Rise up Spirit N. and come to me”

Place it under your pillow and sleep.
If you do not succeed, repeat this step until you get results.
