DREAMers, don’t stop dreaming

action:

You’ve probably heard by now that President Trump and his Attorney General Jeff Sessions have decided to rescind the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. Originally created by President Obama, the program provided hope and protection to nearly a million children of undocumented immigrants, many of whom have growing up knowing no other nation besides the United States of America.

In their hearts, in their lives, DREAMers are Americans. And they are human beings. The cruelty of deporting them to an unfamiliar land is matched only by the recklessness of doing so. Immigration is vital to our identity, our economy, and our culture. To extinguish the dreams of DREAMers is not only unkind, but fundamentally un-American.

So, Tumblr, here are some ways you can help each other out:

  • Don’t forget to take care of yourself, especially if you’re one of the people directly affected by this. You can’t just fight—you also have to heal.
  • Tell your story. Tag it #DREAMer. Let people know what you’ve experienced, and let other DREAMers know they’re not alone.

And if you could use some perspective on what it’s like for a DREAMer right now, please read this Answer Time session with an undocumented immigrant who took your questions on her situation, her hopes, and her fears. It’ll open your eyes, it’ll open your heart. It’s what the world needs right now.

Stay strong, Tumblr.

People who live on Caribbean islands and in Florida please prepare for a possible hurricane that can cause MAJOR destruction!! Hurricane Irma has been growing at fast rates and it doesn’t hurt to be safe than sorry. Stock up on food, water, portable chargers, and other helpful resources that can get you through this.

Here is a 2017 hurricane disaster guide that contains vital information on how to survive a hurricane. It’s too early to tell how far it’ll go beyond Florida but meteorologists are predicting it can hit the Carolinas. The storm isn’t expected to hit the U.S until Friday, so that gives Florida residents a lot of time to stock up and get prepared.

Florida’s Governor has already declared a state of emergency!

Hey guys, this is important! Spread this around!

Also: North Carolina (possibly) and a couple other states north to Florida. It’s HUGE y’all.

And it’s best to stock up NOW for supplies! Don’t wait to see where this thing is going to go!

I live in South Florida and go to school in North Florida and supplies like water, batteries, and shutters/plywood are already sold out in a lot of places. You don’t want to be in the mad rush if this thing takes a turn for the worse. (Plus with the devastation in Texas gas is supposed to keep going up. Get it now if you can!)

As someone who has been in two hurricanes (one of them category 5):

  • -Hurricanes usually last 3-4 days, so buy enough CANNED supplies
  • -any important documents or books you may want to save, keep them in palstic bags and put them in high places
  • -protect your windows. I remember my parents putting tape all over the windows in a cross and an x shape from córner to corner. This doesn’t protect the windows from breaking but when in case it breaks it won’t spread all over the floor. I asked my mom and if you want like high protection use wood boards.
  • – buy water and keep candles or flashlights since electricity and water services are out during a hurricane
  • -get a battery radio
  • -if you live in a two floor house I recommend you to move all your furniture to the second floor in case it floods.
  • -if you have a wood house get ready for a bunch of water leaks
  • -stay calm
  • -if you have trees/palms around your house be careful since they may fall (I personally think it’s better if you cut them off or at least the dangerous branches), hurricanes ARE capable of breaking a big ass trees, i’ve seen it
  • -obviously keep your pets inside
  • -if you live close to the sea DON’T STAY THERE. GET OUT OF YOUR HOUSE. LOOK IN THE INTERNET FOR SHELTERS NOW!!!
  • -Stay safe

I think America should start implementing a hurricane culture. If they had one, what happened in Houston wouldnt had been that bad. Make research, keep your family safe, don’t Panic. You’ll make it through it!!!!

REBLOG THIS SPREAD THE WORD!!!

UPDATE: THE HURRICANE IS NOW A CATEGORY 5

The storm is at its most powerful rate and extremely dangerous rate so it is highly recommended at this point to stock up and get prepared if you live in Florida, Georgia, and the Carolinas. It doesn’t hurt to get prepared if you live even more northern than those states. It’s not looking good.

Hey guys I usually don’t do this type of thing but I’m really proud of my brother, so ¯_(ツ)_/¯

My brother made an overwatch video and it took him months to compile the footage and then several weeks to edit it, and it’s his first video and I’m a proud big sister so here is the link. I’d appreciate if y’all watched it and left a like or even a comment, thanks y’all 😀

Don’t ever hesitate. Reblog this. TUMBLR RULE. When you see it, REBLOG IT.

The Solidarity Cville Anti-Racist Legal Fund:

The Charlottesville Solidarity Legal Fund is an independent community resource that is available to all anti-racist activists in the ongoing struggle to confront and end white supremacy in Charlottesville. In order to ensure that funds are available equitably, participants agree to the following principles, which have been adapted from the vision and language of other movement work and community legal fund programs in Charlotte, Durham, Baton Rouge, Washington, D.C., Chicago, and elsewhere.

#A12 General Fund

In the wake of the Charleston Massacre in 2015, the Confederate flag saw a drastic change in social tolerance, and its removal from public institutions sparked widespread reaction from scores of White Southerners, even leading to further terrorizing and violence. Donald Trump’s campaign and election saw these fires stoked further, now emboldening the more explicit White Supremacist dialogue that so many had attempted to distance the flag from a year earlier.

also does anyone kno if theres a fund up yet for the people hit by the car?

fund for victims hit by the car. lmk if this isnt legit so i can take it down
https://www.gofundme.com/medical-fund-for-comrades-in-cville

This is the one that the local antifa branch shared on their Facebook. Idk if the gofundme is legit, I’ll ask

https://fundly.com/defendcville

The gofundme is by Anchorage, Alaska DSA to raise to help out those in Charlottesville. They posted it on their Twitter, so it seems legit.

Update: I just heard back abt my message to anchorage dsa. Mobile so can’t post ss but they said

He is a member of our chapter but it wasn’t done in coordination with our chapter at all and we can’t vouch for the viability of the fundraiser (e.g. whether there is a clear plan in place with what will happen with the funds) because we found out about it as everyone else did just by seeing the link. Thanks for your inquiry!

so share with a grain of salt, boost the fundly link primarily tho!

Another fundraiser: medical expenses for a comrade of mine in the Athens ISO who was hit by the car. Please spread https://www.youcaring.com/athensisomemberhurtincharlottesvillecounterprotests-902560?
