1. Vaginal discharge is normal
2. Wearing panty liners 24/7 is not necessary
3. Vaginas are acidic enough to BLEACH fabric, hence the discoloration of underwear
4. Longer labias are more normal than smaller ones (but both are fine)
5. It is not safe for vaginas to smell like sunshine and flowers so quit expecting it to
6. Having sex has no correlation of how “tight” your vagina is
7. Yeast infections are COMMON

In case any of you ladies are feeling a little self conscious

Can i get a step by step on how to do this?

So far for me it’s been something like:

1. Become aware of how and when you tearing yourself down.

2. Now that you can catch yourself doing it. Offer counters to the negative self talk. A really useful thing I read was to talk to yourself almost the way you would child. Gentle and patient. Even when they fuck up.

3. Take time to celebrate your small accomplishments. You’ve been attacking yourself for every little mistake. Apply that same fervor to the positive things in your life. Did the dishes even though you didn’t want to? Fuck yeah! Got up and took shower? YES!!! You are taking positive steps to feeling better. Celebrate it.

4. Make lists of things you’re good at/ like about yourself. The first time I did this the only two things in my list we’re that I liked my hair and I had good friends. It was start.

5. Don’t beat yourself up if you screw up steps 1-4. It’s counter productive. When I catch myself calling my self stupid for some mistake or other my response now is,“We don’t talk to ourselves like that anymore. What’s something constructive that could actually help solve the problem.”

Most of the time that seems to work. Not always. But more and more Everytime.

I hope any of that made sense.

This is great advice @catastrofries

Some self-care ideas after a long winter ❤

Pamper your body and soul, so you can enjoy a healthy, happy spring:

– Start your day with a glass of water! You can enjoy it pure or add lemon juice, sliced fruit or cucumber, or a splash of your favorite fruit juice!

– Use healthy herbs instead of salt to support your liver (your “built-in detox system”!)

– Stop smoking. You already know it’s better for you and spring is the ideal time for a healthy change!

– Drink green tea! It is rich in antioxidants, it helps keep you hydrated, and it helps protect the liver.

– Get a pretty water bottle you like to carry around, so it gets easier for you to stay hydrated!

– Practice deep breaths for 5 minutes each day. It’s simple but it’ll reduce your stress levels noticeably after a few days.

Get enough vitamin D

– Take walks, embrace the changes in nature you notice around you!

– Dry brush your skin. It helps remove dead skin cells and toxins, stimulates the lymphatic system, and improves blood circulation.

– Add more vegetables to your meals!

– Clean and declutter your room. Donate items you don’t need anymore. This will help you feel productive and organized and acts of kindness lift your mood, too!

– Get some house plants! They lower stress (yes, really!).

I feel like the line between “fluffy uwu self care” and “get your shit together self care” is thinner than people seem to think. Like, sitting in a quiet space with a book and maybe some twinkly fairy lights gives me the spoons to go call my damn doctor like I’ve been meaning to. Bath bombs or shower steamers make me feel content and/or sparkly, which gives me confidence to go out in public. (Plus, I bathed.) I dye my hair funky colors so if I feel like people are staring at me I can say it’s at that instead of whatever my anxiety wants it to be.

The two are not mutually exclusive, is what I’m getting at, and I never see that mentioned, just either “self care is being nice to yourself” or “self care is kicking yourself in the ass to function for a few hours”. Kick yourself in the ass with niceness.

Gotta get your emotion-focused coping before you do your problem-focused coping.

hey let’s normalize doing little things to help ourselves!

opening a window sure won’t cure my personality disorders but it will cool down my room and give me fresh air if I haven’t left the house for a while! taking your vitamins won’t cure your depression but it will prevent you from getting vitamin deficiencies if you forget to eat! going outside for a while won’t cure mental illness but it does feel nice!

little things won’t cure us but they will help manage things. these things aren’t “neurotypical”, they are ways of surviving!

those little things on ur nose aren’t blackheads, don’t try and get rid of them they’re sebaceous filaments and they’re permanent and literally everyone has them

every girl has that little pouch of fat on her lower tummy, despite what magazines try n show u, you have important organs there that need to be protected don’t try and get rid of ur pouch

ur body is smarter than u think and it knows what to do when u eat more than normal. one bad day, or even week, of eating poorly isn’t gonna ruin anything at all I pinky promise

if u think u look good up until u try taking a selfie, it’s not ur fault – our faces are asymmetrical and when u see ur face flipped it will look unnatural to u, since u don’t see it that way when u look in the mirror. to everyone else it looks perfectly fine

no one’s stomach looks the same at 8pm as it does at 8am. no one has a chiseled six pack after a day of eating, not even the super fit people u see on tumblr, because ur stomach naturally expands after eating and expecting to have a flat tummy before bed is very unrealistic

no one notices if the bags under ur eyes are bad today. no one pays attention to the bump in ur nose or the zit on ur chin or the piece of hair that u missed when u were straightening. literally no one notices these things except you so stop worrying about it ur gonna be fine

sometimes u just gotta get over urself

this made me cry I needed it so bad

A reminder that turning in assignments for partial credit is better than not turning them in at all. It is. Even if you think you’ve done a bad job and are ashamed of your work, or it’s way overdue, you take whatever you can get. Partial credit dramatically improves your grade over a zero, and I’m always astounded by how often even the smartest kids don’t really comprehend that. 60% is worlds better than 0%. Even 10% is going to help you. Letter grades are misleading and are not created equal. “F"s are mathematically valuable. Turn that late assignment in.

This goes for so many things in life tbh.

Can’t pay the full amount you owe on a bill? Pay as much as you can each month. Most places just wanna know you’re making a good faith effort. You can usually even call and ask for a smaller minimum monthly payment plan until you catch up, so that maybe you won’t be getting late fees added on to your balance. It’s worth calling to see.

Third time you’ve had to reschedule that doctor’s appointment? Oh well. Your doc probably just wants to make sure you make it in to their office at all. Keep trying.

Half-assing is always better than no-assing folks. I know lots of us are anxiety-ridden perfectionists and it feels like if we can’t do everything exactly right on the first try we just shouldn’t bother. But that’s not true.

My mom likes to say “anything worth doing is worth doing poorly” to emphasize that it’s okay to enjoy doing things even if you’re not good at them. The point is doing them. Make that shitty art project that makes you happy. Learn that new skill even if you suck at it at first. Make it to under half of the events of that club or organization you want to be a part of but can’t fully commit to. It’s okay. You don’t have to do it perfectly to do it at all.

anything worth doing is worth doing poorly.

God i wish someone told me this in middle school
