A spell that can be cast at any moon phase or any time of the day to turn your room into a magick-inducive environment. The perfect spell for baby witches who want to start with spellwork. I created this when I was 12 (2006) and it has been 11 years since then and itâs still effective.
Recommended to Cast During: Any moon phase at any time of the day.
Colors: Black and White
Needed:Â
đż 2 Candles (either white or black)
đ An Athame (or any pointed object for engraving a candle)
đż A Wand (or any stick that is made from any natural material such as twigs, pencils, wooden chopsticks, selenite crystal, clear quartz wand)
To Cast:
đż Light one of the candles.
đ Start engraving a protection sigil or any symbolism that you dedicate with strength and protection on the unlit candle.
đż Twirl your wand around your engraved candle and say,
âGo away negativity and sway away. Positivity, if you wish to enter, you may.â
đż Light the engraved candle and carry it.
đ Bring the engraved candle with you and light the four corners of your room moving clockwise (start with north)
đż Meditate for 5 minutes after (chakra meditation is recommended or plain floor grounding is alright; that is to lie down completely on the floor)
What To Expect:
đż Your room will turn into a much more relaxing environment.
đ Negative energy that was collected through time will be diminished.
đż Better sleep, better naps, better magick.
đ Stronger magick especially for healing and love.
Since magic is such a personal and individualized practice, you may find that your best spells will be ones youâve written and performed yourself. This may sound complicated, but itâs only as simple (or ornate) as youâd like to make it.
Step 1.
Start by getting a clear idea of your goal and get a mental image of what that will look like (ex, for a happiness, you would want a clear vision of yourself being happy going about your daily activities). This is arguably the most important part; you canât have a successful spell if you donât know what it means for it to be a success. Meditate on it, describe it in detail, but donât begin anything until you have a firm idea in your head.
Step 2.
After this, decide what type of spell you want to create. A candle spell for a quick result, or something to carry for long-term use? Do you want it to be simple, like more general happiness in your life, or more in depth, like to earn a specific job position by the end of the month? Try to oriente your spell to be themed to your goal.
Here are a couple popular methods to get you started:
đź Candle Spells
– Small candle = quick results, short term, but only a small burst of power
– Medium candles = burned over a few sessions, gives the spell length, effects last longer, but typically slows down the appearance of immediate results
– Large candles = burned in sessions over weeks or months, contains much more power, lasts much longer, but can take the most time before results are seen
đź Sachets, Charms, Enchanted Jewelry
– Sachets, herb pillows, etc. are quick to make and are designed for a slow release of magic over time
– Charms usually have an inherently magical function making it unnecessary to charge them, but while they last the longest, they are usually not as powerful as other spells
– Enchanting jewelry or tokens mimics a charm, which makes them easy to disguise and mundane objects with secret magical functions, but they must be periodically recharged to retain their magic
đź Cord/Knot Magic
– String/cord is an excellent symbol for many things, making it an ideal representation. For example, in a binding, you could tie a black string around a doll or poppet to symbolize the magic âtying them upâ. You can also tie it to yourself and a symbol of someone else to link you two, or tie it and cut it to break a bond with someone.
– Knots are excellent tools for storing magic and energy until it is time to be released. This way, you could put a spell (like a spell for money) into the cord and tie a knot, and then later, when you need that money, you can untie the knot to release the magic of the spell.
đź Verbal/Written Spells
– Verbal power can be the strongest method of channeling, your voice and your words are sacred and can be used to summon a lot of your power. Chanting, singing, performing poetry, reading spells aloud, or simply speaking your intent in a commanding way can be a spell all itâs own. You may feel shy at first, but many witches over time develop what can be called their âSummonerâs Voiceâ which is a very serious, powerful manner of speaking that you only use to cast magic, which makes it uniquely powerful.
– Written spells are just as powerful, because it is still using words and language, which contain the natural power of change. Writing out a spell, poem, song, affirmation (ex, âI am healthyâ), prayer, etc. can be a stand-alone spell as well. You can also sleep on your writing, place magical items on the page, or especially burn it to release its magic.
Step 3.
Decide if you want to add anything to your spell to add energy to it. Performing only verbal spells can be very efficient, but it is also terribly exhausting as it draws entirely on your energy.
Spell ingredients are added so that some of the energy added comes from something other than you. Herbs, crystals, metals, etc. all vibrate with their own energy which, if added properly, can contribute to your spell and make it stronger/last longer/go into effect faster/etc.
To figure out if something will be beneficial to your spell, you can try to sense itâs vibrations or look up common associations. For example, if you are doing a love spell, you could look up and find that yarrow and rose quartz both commonly resonate with love, which would make both of them suitable for your spell.
Ideas for what to add to your spell to make it stronger:
đź Crystals are so popular in witchcraft because there are a lot of them vibrating with lots of different frequencies, giving you lots of options for what to use for your spell. Set them in designs, put them on top of your written spells or sigils, add them to spell bags, or even just hold them during your spell and carry them afterwards to help give your spell focus.
đź Herbs function like crystals, but unfortunately canât be recharged as well. However, they pack more initial energy and typically have more specific associations (ex, whereas rose quartz may just resonate with love in general, an herb like black medic might be as specific as âlove, but only between young adults which ends up leading more to separate self-discovery and individual growth than to holy matrimonyâ). The downside to herbs, as amazing as they are, is that they demand A LOT of studying to be used properly. Herbs can be very dangerous, especially when taken internally, and require as much attention, education, and caution as chemicals and medication. (For example, if someone you know has Crohnâs Disease, and you as the witch look up associations for stomach pain, arriving at chamomile to help soothe their stomach, they could end up in the ER with severe stomach cramps. Many herbs conflict with medications, especially antidepressants, sleep medication, and birth control, so read and study and above all TALK TO YOUR GODDAMNED DOCTOR IF YOU WANT TO GET ON HERBAL SUPPLEMENTS OR WANT TO INGEST HERBS AS PART OF YOUR PRACTICE.)
đź Insence that you associate with your goal, or if you donât/canât use fire, use scented water or oil warmers can add a great boost to the spell, and can be designated and lit continuously afterwards to keep energy going into the spell if it is long-term.
đź Oils (acting like concentrated versions of the herb) can be more potent than the dried plant. Use it as incense, to anoint yourself or your tools to give them a boost. (Use extreme caution, oil extracts can cause serious harm if you donât research them first!)
đź Colors can be used to your advantage as well! Color assocations are very personal, however, so be sure to only use a color if it actually evokes the desired feelings out of you. For example, if youâre doing a spell for stress relief, and green relaxes you, use green candles, cloths, or crystals even if most spells would call for blue.
Step 4.
Choosing where and when to perform your spell can give more power to your spell. A spell for releasing emotional baggage would do well performed on the full moon, and a spell to become more beautiful would have the most help in spring. Some spells happen spontaneously, when you couldnât care less what planet is in which house or what day of the week it is, and this is perfectly fine as well. Sometimes waiting too long to perform a spell can kill the momentum you had when writing it, but some spells need a lot of planning.
Some things you can consider:
– Moon phase
– Astrological calendar
– Days of the week
– Days of the month/year
– Time of year
– Holidays
– Time of day/night
– Personal anniversaries
– Weather
Time and date can have personal associations as well, so while some people associate fall with the end of a cycle, you may see it as the original beginning.
Again, your spells can be as simple or as complicated as you want. They donât have to fit any template or style. This is just to get you started and to help you along when youâre first starting, but youâll realise the more you practice that you do have your own style and method and associations, and that will lend your spells the basic power they would be nothing without~â
for any unhealthy relationships, friendships, or thoughts about a person that you wish to be rid of.
what youâll need:
a white candle
a black candle (if you have one, if not another white will suffice)
salt (of any kind)
paper
pen/pencil
Reversed Devil Tarot Card (if you donât own this, you can print a photo of it or look it up online and use that. make sure it is upside down)
1. Light your two candles and place the reversed devil between them.
2. Write the persons name on the piece of paper, focusing on that person as you do.
3. Cover the paper with salt.
4. Focus on your intent, and speak âI wish to release any energy that you have over me. Let it be gone, let your presence over my life cease to exist.â
5. End the spell however you feel best, with whatever words you typically use to close a spell.
6. blow out the candles, discard of the salt (can be reused again for the same type of spell) and throw away the name as it has no hold over you anymore.
The reason I chose to use salt is because of its ability to cleanse energy from an object completely, good or bad. The Devil Reversed signifies breaking free from an addiction and reclaiming your own power. This spell can be strengthened however you see fit, and if you want to make any changes, please feel free to do so! Witchcraft is about what makes the witch most comfortable!
This is an old spell of mine, I havenât used it in almost four years. thatâs because I did this spell, then before a year was up I started dating my wonderful boyfriend, and weâve been together two and a half years now, and plan on being together until our souls fade into nothing.Â
What Youâll Need:
A small-ish jar that can be sealed/closed
Some small pieces of rose quartz (or another stone you associate strongly with love)
Columbine flowers
Apple seeds
Something representing you (some hair, your name on a slip of paper, a few drops of your blood, something of yours, though you may not get it back for a long time)
Oil of your preference (I used almond)
Wax, color depends on what kind of love youâre looking for
I did mine on the winter solstice, though you can do it any time really. I recommend something that represents only the potential for growth from here on out though. I picked the solstice because itâs the shortest day of the year, and the world could only move into spring and growth from that point, until the summer solstice obviously, but we arenât going to get into full season logistics here.
Combine all the spell components in your jar, concentrating on how you want to find someone to love, who loves you back, and let that relationship grow in a healthy way.
Rose quartz represents love. Columbine is for love, but also kind of a permanent loveâŠthink once in a life time. Apple seeds are for love, and growth. People donât always fall suddenly in love, sometimes you just need to be patient enough for it to grow, and thatâs where the apple seeds come in. All of these things are in the jar surrounding/mingling with the object that represents you. This is designed to surround you with love, and it keeps the spell focused clearly on you. You fill the jar with enough oil to cover everything, and close the lid or pop a cork in it. The oil serves two purposes. One, almonds are associated with love as well, so youâre covering everything in love, soaking it in it, BAM! Two, everything inside the jar is less likely to rot. If your flowers arenât dry, they can go moldy, cover it in oil and itâs like those jars of oil and garlic cloves on your grandmaâs counter, only thing wrong with those is theyâre dusty. Once itâs all closed up with everything inside, seal the top of the jar with wax. I used black wax because I wanted to find the kind of love I where I would die for the other person. Not Romeo & Juliet kind of die where they both just throw their lives away, but the âI would take a bullet for you, push you out of the way of a bus, put my own life in danger to save youâ kind of love.
Now, a little explanation. I had known my boyfriend a long time before we started dating. I had liked him, and asked him out, and he told me no. A few years later, I asked him out again, and he told me he just wanted to be friends. That was it, end of story. Well, by that time, I knew I was falling in love with him, but I wanted to respect him. I knew at that time, the only way I would get over him was to either cut him out of my life entirely (which I couldnât stand the thought of doing), or to find someone else to love. So, I did this spell. I did it with the hopes and intentions of finding someone else to fall in love with so I could forget him and just go on being good friends. Eleven months later, I asked him to go with me to see my Great-Grandma before she died, and meet my family. He said we should probably decide how we were going to introducing him to my family. I told him however he wanted, that I was fine telling them the truth: that heâs my best friend I love him dearly. He said it would be easier to just tell them he was my boyfriend, since it wouldnât take as many words to say the same thing.Â
While it could have been serendipitous, and just pure dumb luck mixed with good timingâŠ.I think that sometimes magic works like that. I honestly believe that this spell helped my boyfriend and I both see just how much the other meant to us, and that we couldnât imagine a future without the other person in it. Thatâs why this is my favorite spell of all time. Gods willing I will never get the urge to cast it ever again, but it holds a special place in my heart. Especially since the spell jar had still been perfectly in tact when he and I went for breakfast and ended up dating, but the next morning when I got up, it was completely covered in mold on the inside. The spell had been used up, it had completed itâs purpose, and I didnât need it anymore. Thatâs how I knew it was magic. (also, that is the clearest sign I have ever gotten that a spell worked, undoubtedly)
My favourite curse comes from The Color Purple. I think I must have watched that movie a million times when I was a little girl.
And while I can still quote most of the movie from memory, the scene where Celie curses her husband will always stick out most in my mind. Until you do right by me, everything you think about is gonna crumble. Until you do right by me, everything you even think about gonna fail.
I curse you.
Everything you touch will crumble.
Everything you even dream about will fail.
So how do you cast it? I did it like Celie. With anger. Finger pointing is optional. But I did it. I summoned every shred of heartbreak and anger and hate I had in me and I laced every word with it.
There were no candles.
I did not pray.
No jars were shook.
I was broken, but still a witch, and it was going to damned well happen without anything other than me needing it to happen, anything other than me demanding that it happen, or else I wouldnât make it through.

Find a pendant or trinket that has meaning to you, and is (for you) personally symbolic for protection, e.g. if I wish to create a protective amulet, I might choose a pendant shaped like a sword.
Cleanse the object to get rid of previous energies attached to it by holding it in your right hand and visualising a brilliant white light cleansing the object.Â
Get a burning candle, a bowl of water, incense (preferably Frankincense, Myrrh, Ginseng, Cinnamon, or Dragonâs Blood), and salt at the ready.
Hold the amulet with a string or a chain in your right hand, and sprinkle it with salt while stating out loud, âI consecrate you with the element of Earth.â
Pass the amulet through the incense smoke and state out loud, âI consecrate you with the element of Air.â
Next, carefully pass the amulet through the candle flame while stating, âI consecrate you with the element of Fire.â
Finally, depending on your spiritual preference, you can lift up the amulet above you in the air and say, âYou are now consecrated in the name of the God and Goddess.â or âYou are now consecrated in the name of Tetragrammaton.â or you may choose specific deities. If you wish to keep it secular, you may say, âYou are now consecrated in the name of the Source/Universe.âÂ
Cup both of your hands over the amulet and bring it close to your heart, visualising a protective white light pouring from above into the object and state, âI charge this amulet to protect âxâ/me. So mote it be.â
A spell I wrote inspired from the film Practical Magic
This is a fire free spell used to draw in your ideal lover.
This is NOT a spell to make a specific individual fall in love with you.
This spell can also be altered to search for the ideal platonic partner. See the notes section at the end of this post!
Items needed:
– Pick any of the following flower petals and dry them*
if you have the time. But fresh petals are also okay. (you donât need the whole flower just a a couple of petals) You donât
need all of them, Iâm just providing as many options as possible: Â White
Carnation (pure love), Dark Red Carnation (Deep Love), Â white
Chrysanthemum (truth and loyal love), Red Chrysanthemum (love), Red Rose
(deep love), Yellow rose (friendship/ caring), Orange/Coral rose
(passion/energy/desire), Lavender Rose (love at first sight), Â Tulip
(declaration of love/ perfect love) – Any other flower you can think of
that symbolizes love + companionship. You donât need a lot. Maximum 2
petals for each flower of your choosing.
– Hot water (like just barely hot enough for tea. As long as thereâs steam, youâre golden)
– water soluble paper (get rice/wafer paper OR look for the brand print-stitch-dissolve in a local craft store. Iâve found it in Michaelâs and staples for around $10) IF you canât fine the paper, just write on your flower petals, provided they are large enough.
– pen(s)/ pencil(s) in any color(s) of your choosing
– mug or bowl
– an open window/ outdoor space
What to do:
– Start boiling your water. Feel free to put it on low heat, this may take some time.
–
Take your pen and paper, list the qualities you seek in a love (be they
physical or personality related). If you do wish to use a visual
element you can print out images/ draw the qualities you seek. There is no need whatsoever to glue items together
– As you write each quality, rip it up from the page so itâs on itâs own strip, place it in your mug/bowl
– when you are finished writing, take your dried petals and crumble them/ tear them up, toss them into the mug/bowl as well
-take
the mug/bowl into your hands and speak/whisper this chant
âLover hear me. Lover know my name. Lover come find me. Lover follow my heartâs flame.â
–
put the bowl down, by now your water should be hot. Slowly pour in the hot water, repeating the chant if you wish. Let the steam send your wishes out into the world. Feel free to chant until you no longer see steam/ until the water cools.
– When the bowl/contents have cooled, pour out the mug/bowl. Be sure to wash it when you are done if itâs one you consume from.
Additional Notes: If youâd like, keep a copy of your list should you choose to keep an eye out for your person. Or if youâd like to perform the spell again. Feel free to copy any imagery as well and hold onto it if you wish.
*
To press + dry flowers you can either iron the flowers between sheets
of parchment paper OR press them under some heavy books (this can take
several days. But since itâs petals youâll probably need a week max.).
If you use the iron method, make sure the iron is on the lowest possible
setting and there is no water in it. Donât iron across the paper like
you would clothes, just dab for 10-15 seconds in each spot. Let it cool .
Maybe go over with the iron 1 more time, you donât want to scorch/ burn
the petals.
PLATONIC PARTNER ALTERATIONS: change the the word âloverâ to âpartnerâ in the chant. Look for flowers that have friendship/ familial/ unconditional love related meanings such as yellow rose, Jasmine, pear blossom, primrose, yellow chrysanthemum, forget-me-not, blue violets, ect. Obviously make more changes as you see fit â€
