So…this is my Timeline Spread. Well..sort of. I usually just refer to it as “The Timeline”. And also, you’ll have to keep reading to see exactly how it works. It’s a lot of cards (for me, at least) and it’s best used with a lot of reflection. I do this spread with pen and paper and take plenty of notes and make plenty of plans. Google reminders are scheduled during this. If something comes up that I’m not happy with, then I’m going to want to change or avoid it at best, and if that can’t happen, then at worst I want to know how I can get out of it as unscathed as possible.

Each point on the timeline gets three cards, like so:

image

Card One is “Where I am at this point.”

Card Two is “Who I am at this point.”

Card Three is “What will help me most at this time.”

When writing out the cards this spread gives me, I denote them as “A1”, “B3”, “E2”, et cetera.

Each group of three cards is analyzed together and in isolation from the others, first, and I look for links between the time periods to help see where I can facilitate good events and head off the bad ones. (Good and bad being relative, of course!) I don’t force a link if there isn’t one – my main narratives are on the individual points on the timeline and the three cards that make up those results, but watching the progression of your needs and who you are can be very interesting and telling for sure.

This is honestly a LOT of information and personally, I don’t recommend trying to read for unlisted places on the timeline, however if you’re really curious about a sudden, dramatic shift between one point and the next, placing a single card to see what leads from point A to point B (or D to E or what have you) can be helpful.

(I also don’t do this spread too often either. I don’t do it on schedule, although that’s not a bad idea. I do it whenever I think it’s necessary, which is rarely more than twice a year.)

30 Day Tarot Pic ChallengeDay 30 – A Letter To Your Future Self

WOW. I’m done! On time! Albeit, nearly at the last minute, but still! I haven’t posted all the other days to my tumblr yet (you can find them on my instagram), but here’s the last day’s challenge prompt, which I turned into a spread. Of course I had to do a spread, right?

“You can basically fill in the blanks for position meanings, but
1: who you are in the future.
2: how your future self feels and 3: what caused you to feel that way.
4: something your future self may need to know.
5: a piece of advice from the past, or something you may have forgotten.”

I’m actually pretty fond of this one – but make sure you record the results somewhere so you can find your advice when the time comes!

Found this online.

get a new tarot deck? here’s a few notes

badasswitchcraft:

as its the holiday season, a lot of people are getting tarot as a gift or something of the sort. here are some things that i’ve learned from my time reading tarot!

  1. the first spread isn’t going to be perfect
when you first get your tarot deck, not only are you getting to know it, but it is getting to know you. it doesn’t know your reading style and personality right off the bat, so give it time. do a few more spreads, and you’ll notice it begins becoming more and more clear. never give up on your deck right away or immediately think you don’t suit each other.
  2. do an interview of the deck
there are all sorts of spreads for this! when you first get a deck, do an interview. ask it about its self, ask it what its strengths and weaknesses are, what your bond is going to be like, things like that. not only does this help it warm up to you, it also helps you practice reading the cards. jumping into fortune telling right away can be very difficult and you could get very frustrated.
  3. treat it like it’s alive (because it kinda is).
every tarot deck is unique and has its own personality and special skills. (for instance, i have 3 decks. one is very gentle and is good at personalities, another is very sarcastic and straight forward, and is good at fortune telling, the last is very motherly and good at guidance.) treat your deck with kindness. never throw it, never be aggressive with it, don’t get mad at it because all of these things can wreck your relationship with your deck.

I hope i helped some tarot “newbies” or even some who have already have tarot cards! feel free to add to this if you have guidance as well! 🙂

Welcome to Night Vale Tarot Deck Review

Overall, I give this deck 4.5 stars.

Good things about this deck:

The art. The GOTDAMN ART. Look at this:

LOOK.

The little fuzzy bag with the Night Vale symbol on it.

The fandom appeal. If you like the podcast, you will probably love the deck. It’s really fun to see your favorite characters show up during a reading.

The snazzy black borders.

Not-so-good things about this deck:

The cards are quite stiff. Shuffling them is a little difficult, and they slide around a lot.

On many of the cards, the art doesn’t really go with the traditional meaning of the cards themselves. Depending on your reading style, this may or may not actually matter to you.

Those are the only negative things I have to say about the deck. Even the backs are gorgeous. Look at this!

It’s a bloodstone circle!!!

More of my mom’s witch tips (tarot):

  • Don’t let other people use your cards on a whim. If you’re passing them on (like mother to child) they need time to adjust.
  • Not all decks are the same. Make sure you read the meanings that come with the cards. (Like my Ukiyo-e deck’s devil’s upright reading is most deck’s reverse)
  • Readings will almost never be all sunshine and rainbows
  • When you’re doing a reading for someone, the uprights and reverse will be facing them not you.
  • Also, tell them to really focus on the question they want answered (like how their love life will go), but let them know the cards will answer the question their soul really wants answered. So it may not be the question they ask.
  • When shuffling, if a card falls out, add it to the reading off to the side. The deck thinks it’s important.
  • When you get really apt at readings (like my mom) you may get a near perfect sense of the time frame. My mom once did a reading and was shocked at how urgent it felt. She found out that the woman’s reading came true that night—no more than an hour or so later.

Hey here are some more tarot tips from my mom. I may also do kitchen and herb tips sometime soon. Stay witchy 💜💜💜

I hate it when people are like “Tarot is such bullshit, cards can’t predict the future”. I hate this because I look at tarot from one of two ways, depending on my mood.

1. Tarot doesn’t make 100% going to happen predictions. Tarot can’t say something will happen and then you get to sit on your lazy ass and wait for it to happen. Tarot tells you what can happen if you choose to put the effort into making that happen.

2. Tarot is good for introspection. You find the answers in the cards. Your own intuition does, not the definitions of the cards.

The Aeclectic Tarot website is how I discovered what type of Tarot deck style I wanted! It also offers details about each deck like number of cards, measurements, and a few cards to preview. It’s incredible! I HIGHLY recommend using it when searching for a tarot or Oracle deck
